Overview:

Set in the historic academic center of Cambridge, the Harvard–Summit Research Program offers two immersive pathways for students to experience the intellectual rigor, interdisciplinary thinking, and vibrant research culture that define Harvard University.

Through Summit’s two-tier structure, students may pursue either a one-on-one, publication-focused research experience or a structured, collaborative introduction to foundational academic inquiry. Each pathway reflects Harvard’s tradition of analytical depth, seminar-style learning, and scholarly exploration.

This program is designed for students who want meaningful academic interaction with Harvard-affiliated faculty, researchers, and mentors—students who value learning directly from scholars, engaging in high-level discussions, and building relationships that may lead to strong, research-based recommendation letters.

Boarding and commuter options are available, welcoming students from across the country and around the world.

Tier 1 — Premium Individual Research

Students engage in fully individualized, one-on-one research mentorship with a Harvard-affiliated scholar to develop a 10–12 page, solo-authored research paper written to a polished, publication-ready standard. This track mirrors the individualized inquiry central to Harvard’s tutorial-style mentorship, emphasizing original thinking, advanced analysis, and high-level academic writing.

Tier 2 — Enhanced Group Research

Students work in small, faculty-guided cohorts to develop a 8 page foundational research report. This track provides structured training in essential research skills—including how to read scholarship critically, form evidence-based arguments, collaborate within an academic team, and communicate findings with clarity. The group format allows students to learn from peers while building confidence in the core components of scholarly inquiry.
