Online Research Programs (Solo)

  • Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis.
  • Students may begin once accepted and matched with a mentor.

Summit Research Discovery (Group)

  • When you apply, select Summit Discovery Group Research on your application. The application process is the same as our other programs.
  • During your interview, we’ll ask about the research topics that interest you most, so we can match you with the right group and focused area.
  • Once enrollment is complete, we’ll form your research group and confirm your start details.
  • From there, your team begins working together under the guidance of your research mentor.
  • Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis.

Already Have a Team and a Topic in Mind?

If you already have a team of 3 to 4 students and a research topic you’d like to pursue, Summit may be able to arrange a customized group research experience built around your idea. Contact us to discuss your proposed topic, academic goals, and mentor availability.

Summer Research Programs

  • Regular Application Deadline: March 30, 2027
  • Late Admission: Applications submitted after March 30 may be considered subject to program availability.

2. Submit Your Application

Complete the online application by providing:

  • Student and school information
  • Parent or guardian contact details
  • Program preference
  • A brief overview of your academic interests and relevant experiences

This information helps our team assess readiness and identify the best mentor match.

3. Interview & Admissions Decision

After your application is reviewed, our admissions team will contact you—typically within one week—to schedule a short interview.

The interview allows us to:

  • Learn more about your interests and goals
  • Confirm program fit
  • Answer any remaining questions

Following the interview, you will be notified of your admissions decision.

4. Enrollment & Program Start

Once accepted, families receive an invoice with payment instructions. Upon receipt of payment:

  • For solo research, students are matched with a mentor within one week. For group research, students are placed into a team and matched with a mentor once the group is formed.
  • You begin developing your research plan and project outline
  • Your mentor provides step-by-step guidance throughout the program

Payment Options: Summit Institute accepts payment by check, Zelle, Venmo, credit/debit card, and domestic or international wire transfer. Payment instructions are provided after acceptance and invoice issuance.
