What types of students are the best fit for Summit programs?

Do students need prior research experience?
No. Summit supports students at all experience levels.
- Tier 1 is for students ready for intensive, independent research.
- Tier 2 is ideal for students new to research who benefit from structure and collaboration.
Beyond the summer programs, students can join remote research, academic writing programs, and the Venture Studio, all of which welcome beginners.
Who are the mentors?
Students are guided by mentors from top-tier universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Emory, UPenn, Georgia Tech, and others. Our mentors include faculty members, researchers, and advanced scholars experienced in working with high school students.
What outcomes do students complete?
Depending on the program, students may complete:
- A 10–12 page individual research paper
- An 8-page group research report
- A writing or academic portfolio
- An app, prototype, or nonprofit organization for Venture Studio
Research-track students present at a Summit Research Symposium, with recorded presentations shared with families.

Yes—students receive structured guidance for submitting to:

What grade levels may participate?
Programs are open to rising 9th–12th graders. Select advanced students may be recommended for Tier 1 based on counselor input.

Yes. Limited financial assistance is available. Counselors may contact us directly to discuss options or nominate students.
Can counselors refer multiple students?
