Students work one-on-one with accomplished mentors drawn from the full spectrum of academic research. This includes university faculty and lecturers, postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and other experienced research scholars affiliated with leading universities such as Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, MIT, Georgia Tech, and Emory. Each student is matched with a mentor based on a range of factors, including the student’s chosen field, research interests, and program, so the guidance is expert, relevant, and well-suited to their goals.

Students are introduced to their mentor at the start of the program. We’re not able to share mentor assignments before the program begins, as matches are finalized once groups or research focuses are set. Rest assured that every student is paired with a PhD-level mentor whose expertise aligns with their chosen field of research.

Group programs begin once a full research team has formed with usually four students who share a common area of interest. Because timing depends on other students enrolling in the same field, group start dates can vary. We work to form groups as quickly as possible and will keep you informed as your team comes together.

Students pursue research across a wide range of disciplines, including the sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and public health. Available topics depend on the program and mentor availability.

Students begin by selecting a field of interest. In group programs, mentors work with the team to shape the specific paper topic; students with a particular topic in mind may pursue it as a solo research project, developed with their mentor and guided by Summit’s research framework.

That’s completely fine. Many students begin our programs without a defined topic. During the initial phase, our mentors and admissions team will work with you to identify your academic interests, explore potential fields of study, and refine a research direction that matches your strengths and goals. Our goal is to help you discover a topic that is both meaningful and achievable within the program timeline.

Every student finishes the program with a complete, polished research paper. It is typically an original, submission-ready piece of academic work developed under expert mentorship and refined through multiple rounds of feedback and editing. Eligible tracks include dedicated support in preparing the paper for submission to a high school or professional research journal.

Our past students have published their work in professional publications such as the Journal of Emerging Investigators (JEI), Young Scientists Journal (YSY), and Harvard International Review (HIR). They have also competed in nationally recognized events like ISEF, JSHS, and Genius Olympiad. We help students build strong portfolios that support top-tier college admissions and long-term academic success.

Whether a paper is accepted depends on the student’s own work, the quality, originality, and rigor of their research and writing, as well as the standards of the journal or conference. Every student receives a Certificate of Completion and a recommendation letter from their mentor. We can also help students learn how to describe their research experience effectively on a resume or college application. Even a single, well-written line can make the difference in whether admissions officers recognize the significance of the work. If students don’t know how to present it, that accomplishment can easily go unnoticed.

Yes, program changes are permitted within one week of submitting your application or before the official start date of your program, whichever comes first. To request a change, please contact our Admissions Team as soon as possible so we can accommodate your adjustment and confirm availability.

Students submit an application, complete a short interview, and, if accepted, enroll to secure their place. During the interview, we discuss the student’s academic interests so we can match them with the right mentor and research focus.
